Job summary

The Quality Supervisor oversees and monitors the inspection and testing of materials, parts, and products to ensure adherence to established quality standards. Establishes inspection protocols, defines sampling procedures, and determines equipment and mechanisms to be used in the testing process, and performs inspections on raw materials and in-process materials and finished goods. Supports activities to maintain the integrity of the Quality system at the Site.

Summary of essential job functions

  • Operates in compliance with all safety requirements of the facility.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work environment.
  • Ensures compliance with company procedures and specifications.
  • Provides leadership to site inspection activities.
  • Oversees and performs routine inspection and analysis on incoming raw materials, in process samples and finished products according to approved procedures.
  • Ensures Inspection Records are properly documented and retained, maintaining data integrity and quality records traceability.
  • Prepares and submits test samples as needed. Documents and retains test results as required.
  • Supports other functions dealing with quality system performance such as: Preventive and Corrective Actions, Non-Conforming Materials, and Discrepant Materials Reports.
  • Ensure Calibration requirements are performed and adhered to
    • Assist in qualification, maintenance, and calibration of inspection equipment.
    • Calibrate all equipment that needs to be calibrated in-house
    • Send out all equipment that needs to be calibrated out-of-house
    • Schedule calibrations for all equipment that needs to be calibrated on site
    • Record the calibration of all equipment in QMS
  • Document Control and Training
    • Ensure that only controlled documents are being used.
    • Provide site input for development of Documents as necessary.
    • Approve pertinent Quality System document representing the site as necessary.
    • Ensure that training for site is being completed in a timely manner.
  • Customer Complaints
    • Attend weekly customer complaints meeting and perform any investigation needed for the complaints
  • CAPA
    • Oversee status of CAPAs that are assigned to the site
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Background in an industrial environment
  • Shift work experience PREFERRED
  • Experience in Chemical or Plastics Quality Assurance Laboratory Inspection or Testing PREFERRED
  • College PREFERRED

Abilities required

  • Good eyesight and good eye/hand coordination.
  • Ability to respect all safety requirements in order to ensure yours and your colleagues' safety.
  • Able to operate department specific equipment necessary to fulfill job responsibilities.
  • Able to read, interpret, and follow SOPs, labels, instructions, specifications, and reference materials.
  • Ability to skillfully use a caliper, micrometer, tape rule and other instruments.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools.
  • Ability to problem solve by looking beyond the obvious solution to a problem and endeavor to find the best solution.
  • Able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Must be able to work shift work, flexible hours and overtime as needed.
  • Basic computer skills
    • With ERP system and other internally developed software.
    • With Microsoft pack: Word, Excel (spreadsheet).
  • Effective communication skills – written and oral.
