Job Description

Personal Property Adjuster - Overview

As the oldest and most-established public adjusting firm in Tennessee, FirstCall is now into its 4th decade of helping families and businesses fully recover after they've had a property loss. In this role you'll meet with clients to create a detailed account of damaged/lost items, research and estimate replacement costs and work with the insurance companies to get our customers the money they need to fully restore their homes and businesses. It's a truly gratifying role where you can see that you're making a difference in people's lives.

Ideal Profile – Wants a Field/Office Mix

The ideal candidate wants a blend of working in the office and getting out in the field. While we need someone that's very detailed and reasonably good with technology, we also need someone that likes getting dirty too. Someone that has farming experience or gets satisfaction from doing hands-on projects is highly preferred.

Requirements

  • Passion – The passion to work hard to help the little guy (homeowner/small businesses) substantiate losses to make sure large insurance companies don't cheat them out of what's owed.
  • Field Work – While you'll be supplied protective clothing, you will be in the outdoors part of the week rummaging through homes/businesses to inventory everything. This is a great position for someone who wants to get out into the field and doesn't mind being in the elements. This isn't the position for someone who wants to be in a climate controlled environment all the time.
  • Detail-oriented – The devil is definitely in the details in this position, so you must be detailed in your inventorying in order to take care of our client.
  • Excel/Word/Outlook proficient – You must be capable of using the MS Office suite to handle inventorying, communications with insurance company adjusters, and update clients (homeowners/small business owners).
  • Clean driving record – You'll travel in a company car to property losses in Tennessee with the potential of 2-3 overnights per month to cover more distant losses in the state.

Key Functions

  • Meet clients onsite, count personal property item remnants at damaged properties, look through any pictures they have of their belongings, recreate a detailed inventory list, and take pictures.
  • Research and estimate replacement costs.
  • Work with insurance companies to gain settlements for our clients.
  • Keep clients updated.
  • Close claims expeditiously and coordinate insurance payments to client.

Perks and Benefits

  • Great Benefits – Excellent Health Insurance w/ $1,500 deductible! Dental/Vision options, Matching 401K, Employer paid Life Insurance, Short-Term and Long-Term Disability, Technology Package (iPhone, iPad, laptop etc.), Casual Dress, Company Potlucks and more…
  • Salary/Profit Sharing/Vehicle – Quality Salary, Profit-Sharing and Take-home Company Car/Gas.
  • Training – We'll provide extensive training and pay for you to become licensed by the state as a public adjuster.
  • Change Lives! - You will make a difference in the lives of many and gain satisfaction from helping them get the money needed to fully restore their homes and businesses.
