Quality Assurance/Control Inspector needed NOW!
Mare Island Dry Dock LLC Vallejo CA

This is a nonunion production team member position reporting to a QA Manager.

The QA/QC Inspector is responsible for implementing, maintaining, and enforcing programs for company/employee protection and compliance; Lock out, tag out; work authorization; inspection; participate in emergency planning activities; lead incident investigations, integrating QA and ESH programs in the production environment; and training of employees and subcontractors in lock out, tag out and WAF procedures.

Standard Work Hours: M-F 7-330pm with opportunity for weekend overtime.

Essential Functions:

  • Implement, maintain, and enforce QMS, Environmental, and Safety programs. Make recommendations to improve worker environment, safety and health conditions, and meet regulatory compliance requirements. Educate workers to improve compliance.
  • Lock and/or tag energy-isolating device(s) to prevent the release of hazardous energy and take steps to verify that the energy has been isolated effectively.
  • Maintain accurate and complete log of Work Authorization files (WAF).
  • Ensure that corrective actions from inspections, CARs (corrective action reports), dock inspections, and incident investigations are completed and effective.
  • Perform and document daily, weekly, monthly, and annual inspections and provide written evaluation of conditions in a concise report.
  • Represent Mare Island Dry Dock to outside vendors, governmental entities, and within the company.
  • Lock Out, Tag Out, and WAF

Ensure communication with affected department(s) to LOTO all source energy is properly isolated. This procedure is updated daily or as often as is required.

  • Work Authorization Files are provided, logged, and maintained in a complete and accurate log format.

Education
Required: High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience
A minimum of one year experience in an industrial environment, marine environment preferred.

Skill, Knowledge and Abilities
Complex problem solving skills to identify and prioritize problem areas and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions. Microsoft Office program computer skills are required.

Physical
Ability to drive or travel to locations, physically observe operations, stand, walk, climb, talk, listen and actively participate in communicating effectively with employees, customers and public. Use hands to reach, grasp, handle or feel. Able to walk on ships and in ship areas. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Mental
Basic math and reading skills, writing and spelling ability to communicate clearly and effectively on all technical and business levels.

Working Conditions
Office; occasional exposure to wet humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles; moderate noise; occasional intense light/glare; work near moving machinery. Occasional travel primarily involves ground transportation to and from job sites Ability to work with minimal supervision.
