Senior Account Manager

  • Enforce firm policies and procedures
  • Manage the team to guarantee excellence in service and expertise
  • Manage budgets, and oversee the Account Managers, in order to meet financial targets
  • Keep informed—and keep Account Managers informed—of best practices in the industry
  • Negotiate fees with clients and subconsultants
  • Recommend areas for growth and work with the President expand the firm's services and verticals
  • Actively participate in organizations, events, and networking
  • Oversee digital marketing strategies, including the website, to achieve agency outcomes

 

Salary and Job Requirements

This is a full-time position that requires working onsite with the team in Hausman's New York City office. It is a salary-exempt position with an estimated 40-50 hours per week.

 

Role Summary and Purpose

The Senior Account Manager assists the President to foster the agency's continued development and expansion by managing the business operations of the firm. The Senior Account Manager is responsible for maintaining high standards for client delivery that ensure that client goals are consistently achieved and/or exceeded. The Senior Account Manager, along with the Account Managers, is also responsible for retaining existing clients and attracting new clients. He/she develops new procedures and keeps apprised of evolving industry trends and best practices so that the agency is efficient and effective in positioning its clients strategically for growth and increased revenue. He/she participates in client development activities, professional development, and professional organizations to grow the firm's business. The Senior Account Manager will serve as Account Manager for key accounts.

 

Firm and Staff Management

  • Understand and enforce firm policies and procedures
  • Recommend new policies, as needed, to best deliver top-notch service to clients
  • Serve as a resource to the Account Managers and staff to consistently guarantee excellence in service and outcomes
  • Keep apprised—and keep the staff apprised–of current PR trends, client industry trends, and technologies
  • Ensure messaging is on point in all materials and all documents conform to agency standards for quality
  • Ensure staff is accountable for results-oriented, client-based activities and outcomes
  • Make sure all tasks are completed in a timely manner; address client issues and/or coach junior staff to address issues
  • Assist with staff recruitment and retention

 

Account Management

  • Serve as a resource for the Account Managers on content, tactics, and messaging
  • Manage clients and budgets; develop and implement action plans for clients, within budget parameters
  • Lead strategic communications and key planning sessions with clients
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with editors and media contacts; schedule desksides, interviews, etc.
  • Review editorial calendars on a regular basis for possible coverage
  • Follow-up press releases and media inquiries for coverage; deliver requested materials
  • Negotiate fees with clients and subconsultants

 

Business Development/Marketing

  • Participate in new business meetings
  • Source and research new business leads
  • Recommend areas for growth and create business plans to expand the firm's services and verticals
  • Orchestrate client-focused events and other client-focused activities produced by Hausman
  • Actively participate in organizations; network and attend industry functions
  • Develop and promote thought leadership (articles, speaking, blogs, etc.)
  • Oversee the production of targeted messaging/marketing materials
  • Analyze effectiveness of the website, oversee changes, monitor progress
  • Oversee digital marketing strategies and meet agency targets
  • Write proposals for new clients

Job Requirements

Must have:
*at least 5 years public relations/communications/marketing experience
*previous client-facing experience in professional setting
