Job Description

The Supervisor of Residential Dining is responsible for planning, executing and accounting for all dining services at Terrace Dining Hall. The Supervisor with guidance from the Assistant Manager of Residential Dining and the Senior Manager of Residential Dining is responsible for menu planning, production, ordering, supervising hourly staff and student employees and overseeing assigned catered events.

Responsibilities:

Daily activities will include but are not limited to the following:

Hiring, training, evaluating, counseling and scheduling Hourly Union Employees working at the Terrace and at catered events within the guidelines of the CSEA Union Contract.

Recruit, hire, schedule, train, supervise and evaluate student managers and student employees.

Assisting in menu planning and development with the Assistant and Senior Residential Managers utilizing customer feedback and budgetary constraints.

Help in ordering weekly and daily food products with the assistance of the Senior Residential Manager.

Assisting the Assistant Manager in preparing and maintaining all payroll and required financial reports.

Managing the front of the house during meal times to be available to the customers answering questions and soliciting feedback.

Promote and support nutritional information.

Oversee the set up and execution of theme dinners/catered events including overseeing menu production and staffing during the event.

Research and develop new recipes to be tested by the staff and students for possible use on the dining operations cycle menu.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will hold and associates degree in hospitality, culinary arts, business or related field or equivalent experience in a supervisory food service role.

Applicants must have a high level of energy and a record of accomplishment. Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills are required. Applicants need to demonstrate problem solving ability and a strong commitment to customer service in a diverse community.

Essential Physical Requirements:

Ability to read, write and count accurately to complete all documentation.

Ability to properly operate all equipment relevant to the dining operations.

Ability to freely access all areas of the campus.

Ability to lift items weighing 0-30 pounds.

Ability to work varied hours/days as business dictates.
