Objective

 

The Chief Sales Officer is responsible for the credit union’s sales strategy and driving operational growth to ensure increased revenue and member retention. This position will ensure that the products/services that the credit union offers are profitable and meet the needs of our members. This position also serves as member of the executive leadership team and participates in strategic planning and budget development.

Duties and Responsibilities

·         Oversee the planning and execution of the credit union’s sales strategy aimed at driving increased membership and profitability.

·         Use analysis to forecast sales performance, set sales targets, determine the effectiveness of current sales initiatives against key metrics and implement change if necessary.

·         Research, recommend and develop new products and services. Determine the practicality of the new product/service by analyzing economic feasibility and staffing requirements.

·         Work cross-functionally with other leadership and executive team members, like the chief lending officer and the chief marketing officer, to foster collaboration, faster product growth and higher profitability.

·         Analyze production and financial reports to determine what changes need to be made to obtain goals as set forth in the Strategic Plan and Budget.

·         Prepare accurate organizational performance reports on a quarterly and annual basis.

·         Ensures assigned business units are operating efficiently and reliably, are in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and rules, have appropriate operating controls to mitigate risk, and are performing at a high level.

·         Participate in the development of the annual credit union strategic plan and operating budget, evaluating and recommending various strategies to support the credit union in achieving its goals and key performance indicators.

·         Interface with auditors, and examiners to ensure that the credit union responds appropriately and timely.

  •       Attend KEMBA’s Board of Directors Meetings to offer insight and information on lending programs.
  • Serve as a member of various committees to include: Asset/Liability Management, Member Business Loan, Enterprise Risk Management, Loan and Deposit Pricing and Strategic Initiatives Committee.

Effectively oversees assigned personnel, ensuring optimal performance:

·         Provides leadership for reporting personnel through effective objective setting, talent development, delegation, and communication; conducts staff meetings on a regular basis.

  • Develops the technical, supervisory, and leadership skills of subordinates as appropriate.
  • ·         Ensures that personnel are well trained, effective, and optimally used; instructs personnel regarding policy, procedure, and program changes and ensures that they are well informed regarding related legal and regulatory developments

·         Assists in conducting performance appraisals as required; suggests and implements corrective actions as needed.

·         Ensures that staffing levels are appropriate and that human resources are effectively utilized.                                                                                                 

Assumes responsibility for ensuring that professional business relations exist with Members, vendors, and trade professionals:

  • Ensures that members’ requests and questions are promptly and courteously resolved.
  • Achieves required performance levels on measures of member satisfaction.
  • Ensures that the credit union’s professional reputation and financial soundness is maintained both internally and externally.
  • May represent the credit union in contacts with business and trade professionals.

 

 

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications

 ·       A Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business Management, or a related field (Master’s Degree preferred).

·         Eight to ten years’ experience in a financial institution with a background in sales.

·         A minimum of five years’ experience managing and leading others at a higher level.

·         Forward thinker, with demonstrated decision-making ability.

·         Exceptional critical thinking and organizational skills, outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

·         Ability to conduct thorough research, interpret and understand laws and regulations and provide workable recommendations and solutions to problems.
