Position Overview

VoltAir’s rapid growth has led to a need for an experienced operational leader with knowledge of the AEC (Architecture Engineering and Construction) industry to deliver strong operational capabilities and thoughtful infrastructure for our company’s expansion plans. Reporting into the President & CEO, the ideal candidate demonstrates exceptional strength with multisite leadership, cultivating a collaborative team environment and driving operational maturity while balancing the unique needs of multimillion-dollar infrastructure and construction projects.

 

Responsibilities

Workplace & Workforce Management

  • Oversee staff of 60+ across several offices and multiple disciplines, including engineering and shared services
  • Oversee, monitor, and report on technical- and project-related operations firm-wide
  • Support President & CEO as principal-in-charge for VoltAir offices, particularly Tampa headquarters
  • Develop and implement operational frameworks and processes, ensuring that all the necessary tools, talent and processes are in place for the business to operate

  •      Establishes company-wide expectations of project management performance, including client satisfaction levels and target metrics

  • Build tools to track performance, promote accountability, and provide transparent, real-time insights for decision-making
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners — including Finance, HR, senior staff and external consultant(s) — to establish and maintain operational excellence

  •      Oversee IT operations to ensure technology systems and tools supporting effective project management and tracking

  • Identifies, monitors and communicates important company metrics (e.g., profit, utilization) for monthly, quarterly and annual results
  • Responsible for prioritizing staff, resources and assignments when there are competing needs
  • Develop and mentor a high-performing team to deliver on client and strategic goals
  • Assists in interviewing and evaluating candidates for key positions, and recommends ongoing training for staff development
  • Collaborate with HR and office leadership on employee relations, performance reviews, staff development, and compensation and benefits practices

  •       Review, monitor and approve project work plans including milestones, workflow, staffing and project budgets

  •       Review, monitor and forecast office staffing to meet project and office strategic goals and plans

  •       Lead project management reviews to improve project schedules, scope definition and budget targets

  •       Support overall company-wide initiatives in sustainability, research, social responsibility, knowledge-development and diversity

 

Business Growth

  •      Review RFPs and work with marketing team to develop proposal responses to drive new business development

  • Optimize workflows and processes with technology-led automation
  • Continually evaluate office-location strategy to support new business growth
  • Monitor contract administration process and procedures
  • Improve customer service operations, response time and quality, on-time delivery to achieve client satisfaction
  • Work closely with legal and compliance partners to meet regulatory and legal requirements to operate in new markets
  • Reviews and holds accountability for financial performance of entire project portfolio

 

 

 

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Business, Finance or relevant degree
  • 10 years’ experience in operations leadership role
  •  Five years’ experience in AEC industry, preferably MEP (Mechanical, Engineering, Plumbing)
  •       Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  •       Working knowledge of CRM and ERP platforms
  •       Able to direct and execute tactical projects while maintaining a focus on strategic goals
  •  Knowledge of data analysis and performance metrics
  •  Enhanced knowledge of project design and delivery
  • Collaborative leader with excellent interpersonal and communications skills
  • Resourceful problem-solver, with demonstrated experience figuring out complex, ambiguous problems and building scalable frameworks/processes
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to balance and prioritize multiple projects and initiatives in a high-growth environment
  • Excellent management and decision-making skills
  • Experience in operations risk management and regulatory compliance, with responsibility for mitigating risk and meeting regulatory requirements
  • Travel up to 20%

 

Physical Requirements

Must have the ability to perform the necessary job-related functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

  •          Travel up to 20% for site investigations and assessments, or client meetings
  •          Remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting, for prolonged periods
  •          Work extended hours, evenings and weekends when necessary to meet business deadlines
  •          Regular use of office equipment such as a computer/laptop and computer screens
  •          Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse and other computer components
  •          Ability to see differences between colors, shades and brightness
  •          Depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships)
  •          May occasionally be exposed to the following work conditions: work near/with moving mechanical parts; work near/with electrical currents; work in high places or underground; be     exposed to fumes/airborne particles or caustic chemicals; withstand outdoor weather conditions; withstand moderate to very loud noises
