The Office of Advancement oversees and guides the fundraising efforts of the entire Smithsonian and is home to the central advancement organization for the Institution. In addition to raising significant support for a variety of Smithsonian initiatives, the Office of Advancement provides support services to advancement offices across the Institution. The office engages with staff throughout the Smithsonian in accomplishing their goals.
Duties
The Director of Advancement Information Systems & Technology is responsible for the delivery of accurate constituency, gift and membership data required to meet the fundraising goals of the Institution. The Director uses systems analysis, technical and managerial expertise, and expert knowledge of the fundraising business function to resolve highly complex technical and operational issues and meet the philanthropic objectives of the Smithsonian. The Director functions as the Smithsonian expert on matters involving the use and application of automated processes to integrate fundraising related systems at the Institution.
Qualifications
15+ year experience in managing a decentralized, non-profit coordinating future proof solutions, reporting/analytics and implementation of complex automations to enhance the enterprise. Ensure that data and reporting needs are fulfilled, on time and accurately coordinate between users and technical teams and attain fundraising goals. Strong critical thinking and time management skills for assessing priorities and challenges. Expert knowledge of professional practices and procedures for advancement and membership data management and reporting. Master’s degree or equivalent. Applicants who wish to qualify based on education completed outside the United States, must be deemed equivalent to higher education programs of U.S. Institutions by an organization that specializes in the interpretation of foreign educational credentials.
