In this role, you will take on the critical responsibility of architecting and scaling our cloud-based data lakehouse infrastructure, overseeing the development and management of data pipelines using tools such as Airflow and AWS Glue. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with our Data Insights and Governance group to ensure that our data solutions align with business needs and regulatory standards. 


 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Technical Leadership: Lead the design, development, and optimization of our cloud data lakehouse and data pipelines, ensuring they are robust, scalable, and aligned with business needs. 
  • Pipeline Management: Oversee the end-to-end development and maintenance of ETL/ELT pipelines using Airflow, Glue, and other data processing tools, ensuring efficient and reliable data flow. 
  • Collaboration: Partner with the Data Insights and Governance group to ensure our data architecture and solutions meet business objectives while adhering to data governance and compliance standards. 
  • Architectural Oversight: Guide the architectural decisions that shape our data infrastructure, ensuring best practices in data security, performance, and scalability. 
  • Cross-functional Engagement: Work closely with data science, analytics, and other teams to design and develop business intelligence models that support strategic initiatives. 
  • Mentorship: Mentor and support the growth of junior data engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the team. 
  • Data Governance & Integrity: Ensure that all data engineering efforts adhere to the highest standards of data governance, including data quality, consistency, privacy, and compliance with relevant regulations. Champion best practices to maintain data integrity across all systems. 
  • Documentation and Standards: Ensure comprehensive documentation of data systems, procedures, and standards, maintaining a high level of operational excellence. 

Qualifications: 

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field is required. A Master’s degree is preferred. 
  • Experience: A minimum of 7-10 years of experience in data engineering or architecture, with at least 3 years in a leadership role. Proven experience in building and managing large-scale data infrastructure in dynamic environments such as e-commerce, SaaS, or related industries is essential. 
  • Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of big data technologies, including but not limited to AWS services (S3, Redshift, RDS), and experience with data pipeline tools like Airflow and Glue. 
  • Programming Skills: Proficiency in programming languages and tools such as Python, SQL, and data visualization tools like PowerBI or Tableau. 
  • Strategic Mindset: Ability to make informed decisions in high-stakes situations, balancing technical considerations with business objectives. 
  • Leadership and Initiative: Self-driven and highly motivated, with a passion for leading technical teams and driving impactful data solutions.
