Central Garden & Pet is seeking a Manager, SOX IT to be accountable for the coordination, compilation and monitoring of SOX IT General Controls. The individual will monitor the progress of IT testing based on a preset testing strategy, evaluate the IT control remediation process, and perform a detailed analysis of findings on an annual basis. The incumbent will also assist Central’s business and IT partners with understanding SOX requirements for IT general controls and recommend changes in the IT processes. They will develop relationships with business and IT partners to ensure a sustained understanding of SOX IT control requirements in areas such as documentation and evidence and maintain changes for IT processes in the Central SOX Tool in addition to understanding the IT processes that support applications used by the business and how they relate to the functional areas. The incumbent will track progress of remediation issues and action plans and ensure that the data in the Central SOX Tool reflects IT general control structure and status completely and accurately.

MEASURES OF SUCCESS
  • Conducts analysis of current IT control processes, performs IT controls walkthroughs, and monitors progress of remediation.
  • Reviews remediation actions plans and evidence submitted in closure packages.
  • Provides on-going project management and accurate and comprehensive status reporting to all levels in timely manner.
  • Provides management with timely and accurate assessment of IT general control compliance needs and the effects on business operations.
  • Recommends modifications to established practices and procedures and successfully handles a full range of complex assignments, and projects including consideration of IT general control impact to the IT processes and controls.
  • Performs special studies/projects of complex scope as assigned, which may require independent development of innovative analytical approaches to resolve issues related to IT systems control processes.
  • Participates in the new system development process to incorporate IT internal controls requirements into the project design.
  • Influences multiple cross-functional and/or multiple cross business unit task forces to identify and document functional requirements, workflow, information sources, and system/process specifications.
  • Accesses data and documentation from the Central SOX Tool and updates documentation as required.
  • Provides guidance to junior staff, as appropriate.

IDEAL CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTES
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or information systems. Post-grad degree and/or professional designation/license preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years of related work experience required, with 3 or more years in a consulting role and 5 years in IT audit or compliance.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of SOX 404 IT general controls, including end-user computing tools in a complex cross-functional organization.
  • Strong knowledge of testing SOX IT internal controls.
  • Demonstrated strong project management and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge and experience in designing IT internal controls, determining the acceptable compliance evidence, and in embedding IT internal controls requirements into the new systems design process.
  • Subject matter expertise to cross-divisional, common business and/or IT areas.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Demonstrated data analysis expertise.
  • Strong verbal, written communication and presentation skills to large and diverse audiences including all levels of management.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Internal or external IT audit experience.
  • Public accounting (Big 4 or other) IT Audit/SOX Experience
  • CISA, PMP, or CISSP.
  • COBIT knowledge.
  • Experience with SOC I & II vendor analysis.
  • Working knowledge of audit or GRC tools.

WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Hybrid schedule with 3 days per week required in office
  • Travel up to 15% to business unit locations

POSITION INFORMATION
This position pays $129,000 to $153,000 per year depending on experience
