Central Garden & Pet is searching for a Senior Manager, Transportation Procurement to be based out of our Atlanta or Madison, Georgia location. This is a hybrid position requiring 2-3 days in the office. As Senior Manager, Transportation Procurement, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the procurement strategy for Less-Than-Truckload (LTL), Truckload (TL), and Small Parcel transportation services. You will be responsible for optimizing pricing structures, managing carrier relations, and ensuring efficient and cost-effective transportation solutions for our organization. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of the transportation industry, exceptional negotiation skills, and the ability to build strong relationships with carriers. MEASURES OF SUCCESS:
Strategic Procurement:
- Develop and implement strategic procurement plans for LTL, TL, and Parcel transportation services.
- Analyze market trends, carrier performance, and industry benchmarks to identify opportunities for cost savings and service improvements.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand transportation requirements and align procurement strategies with overall business goals.
Pricing Optimization:
- Negotiate and finalize pricing agreements with LTL, TL, and Parcel carriers to ensure competitive rates while maintaining high service levels.
- Conduct regular pricing reviews and analyze cost structures to identify areas for negotiation and cost reduction.
- Evaluate and implement innovative pricing models to enhance cost-efficiency.
Carrier Relations:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with a network of LTL, TL, and Parcel carriers.
- Collaborate with carriers to address operational challenges, enhance service levels, and negotiate favorable terms.
- Monitor carrier performance, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and implement corrective actions when necessary.
Contract Management:
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with transportation carriers, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
- Monitor contract compliance and enforce terms and conditions to achieve optimal performance and cost-effectiveness.
Risk Management:
- Identify and assess potential risks in transportation operations, such as capacity constraints, fuel price fluctuations, and regulatory changes.
- Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to minimize the impact on transportation services and costs.
- Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Utilize data analytics tools to analyze transportation data, track key performance metrics, and generate reports for management.
- Provide insights and recommendations based on data analysis to drive continuous improvement in transportation procurement processes.
IDEAL CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTES:
- Bachelor's degree in business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- 7-10 years' experience in transportation procurement, with a focus on LTL, TL, and Parcel services.
- Strong negotiation skills and a track record of achieving cost savings in transportation procurement.
- In-depth knowledge of the transportation industry, market trends, and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for building and maintaining effective relationships with carriers and internal stakeholders.
- Proficient in data analysis and reporting tools.
- TMS and SAP Experience
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Typical duties will occur in an office setting; however, candidates may be required to visit our manufacturing facilities.
- 10% Travel
