Our Garden Segment is searching for a Procurement Manager to support our Grass Seed and Branded Controls businesses. This newly created role key role will be responsible for identifying and harnessing the strengths of material suppliers, lead sourcing to support new or existing products, and drive execution of supply initiatives that will create cost/quality/service opportunities in support of Net Productivity efforts.

MEASURES OF SUCCESS
  • Negotiate and coordinate active ingredient and raw materials, ensuring the optimal solution for the business at the lowest possible cost
  • Act as the primary Controls lead on sourcing and procurement of active ingredients and non-seed commodities, with activities including the active management of raw material specific RFQ’s, supplier bill of materials (BOM) cost breakdowns and data necessary for BOM set-up
  • Work with co-packers, suppliers, and internal manufacturing to identify continuous value improvement opportunities that will enable competitive advantage, quantify, and track projects reporting progress to business unit leads
  • Periodically audit Business Unit purchases to ensure adherence to strategic program pricing and supplier terms
  • Work with Quality Assurance team to manage supplier quality issue resolution and associated corrective actions
  • Regularly review and track supplier performance to mitigate potential risk
  • Identify high and at-risk supply issues and manage for continuity
  • Participate in customer forecast and supply calls to stay informed of upcoming events or changes in customers strategies and demands
  • Issue RFQ’s, provide analyses, and make recommendations
  • Ensure orderly transition to new suppliers and recommend changes to existing agreements as well as ongoing purchasing of products and services
  • Assist the Marketing and Business Development teams on product questions, concerns, and direction

IDEAL CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTES
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Analytics, Business Administration, or a similar degree
  • Experience in supply chain and procurement activities
  • 7+ years related experience with strong supply chain expertise; demonstrated understanding of entire supply chain and cost drivers
  • Experience with stakeholder engagement, and continuous cost and performance improvement activities
  • Demonstrated data and financial analysis capability
  • Solid project management and continuous improvement skills
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written; strong negotiation skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Microsoft SharePoint; strong knowledge of ERP systems
  • Demonstrated high proficiency in analytical and critical thinking using facts from data, strong attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, team-based environment and develop relationships across functional groups
  • Cross-functional/organizational team management and facilitation skills (internal and external)
  • Elevated level of energy and sense of urgency; self-motivated; strong and effective multi-tasker
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner
