The qualified applicant will become part of Central Garden and Pet’s manufacturing operations team within Franklin, WI campus. The primary objective of the Maintenance Controls Technician is to repair and maintain the computer-controlled systems and robotic devices used within the facilities. The Maintenance Controls Technician will provide technical assistance and support regarding all repairs to existing equipment, projects, installations, capital projects.

MEASURES OF SUCCESS
  • Operate and manage new machinery as an Automation Technician to diagnose and correct processing issues.
  • Undertake troubleshooting on automated equipment.
  • Amplify production throughput by improving existing processes
  • Assist in the maintenance of equipment to ensure that equipment and processes run smoothly and according to specifications.
  • Maintain effective communication with various levels, departments, and peers.
  • Conduct investigations; recommend changes and upgrades to equipment and processes.
  • Communicate findings, upgrades, and troubleshooting to the appropriate team members
  • Assisting in the selection and installation for capital investment of new equipment
  • Adhere to safety standards

IDEAL CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTES
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience working as an Automation Professional.
  • 2-year technical degree in Industrial Maintenance or related area
  • Experience with robotics (Preferably Fanuc)
  • Experience troubleshooting robotics and a basic understanding of Fanuc programing to “Touch Up” points.
  • Possess multiple skills in the areas of robotics, Electro-mechanical, fluid power, manufacturing processes, electricity, electronics, and mechanical systems.
  • Possess an understanding of PLC ladder logic and basic skills to troubleshoot automated machinery. Allen Bradley, Studio5000 or RS Logix500 training is a plus. The ability to Download and Upload to a processor and go online with a processor for the purpose of troubleshooting is also a plus.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems and PLC hardware; examine IO cards, and reference electrical wiring diagrams, and knowledge of sensors and encoders.
  • Food processing equipment Knowledge
  • Interpersonal skills to lead and communicate with peers.
  • Knowledge in the areas of computers and electronics which relates to circuit boards, electronic equipment, computer software and hardware
  • Critical thinking ability which requires using logic and reasoning to identify the strength and weaknesses of alternative solutions or approaches to problems in both technical and non-technical areas.
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.


WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Work is performed in a manufacturing and warehouse environment with periodic visits to the office environment.
  • Hours will be first shift business hours average at least 40 hours a week. There may be some variation in work hours due to training schedule, overtime, special projects, deadlines, and other concerns.
  • Use of scissors lifts to perform work at high locations in the facility
  • Exposed to any number of elements, but none present to the extent of being disagreeable.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and high is some areas.
  • Ability to lift to 50 pounds with or without accommodation.
