The Garden Segment is hiring a Sr. Accountant on the Accounting team based in Madison, GA. This position will be responsible for general ledger and month end responsibilities which include, but are not limited to, preparing journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations as well as assisting with internal and external financial reporting; interfacing with external auditors, Corporate accounting and Garden business unit personnel; and assisting with Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and financial statement disclosures for SEC filings.

MEASURES OF SUCCESS
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual journal entries and support for non-recurring accounting transactions, including intercompany transactions
  • Prepare account reconciliations and complete analytical reviews of balance sheet and income statement accounts to ensure the accuracy and validity of transactions
  • Provide support and guidance to the Business Unit Operations and the Finance team
  • Prepare special projects as requested by management
  • Provide support in both the external and SOX audits
  • Assist with establishing, implementing, and documenting policies and procedures
  • Assist in the preparation of 10Q and 10K schedules
  • Provide support in the budget/forecast process


IDEAL CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTES
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA a plus
  • 3+ years’ experience in general accounting; manufacturing industry or CPG company a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (Pivot tables and VLOOKUP’s), SAP or comparable ERP system strongly preferred, Hyperion a plus
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to handle a variety of tasks as well as problem solve with the ability to work independently
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills

  • Ability to travel between company locations (10% travel required)
