Summary:

The Shipping and Receiving Associateperforms daily delivery, order fulfillment, packaging, receiving, and shipment of product and materials. Conducts scheduling of orders, ensures accuracy of packaging products, and scans bar codes with the electronic hand-held system. Works with other employees and departments to resolve shipping and receiving matters.

Measures of Success

• Manages the shipment and receipt of all products, materials, and supplies.

• Operates forklift or hand truck to accomplish shipping/receiving duties.

• Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments.

• Tracks, traces, and updates the status of incoming and outgoing shipments.

• Picks and assembles customer orders for shipment ensuring that the correct product is loaded and shipped.

• Uses RF guns to move products within the facility and pick customer orders.

• Carries or transports orders from the warehouse to the shipping dock or delivery platforms with material handling equipment (i.e., sit-down forklift) ensuring orders are staged in order of delivery.

• Collaborates and communicates with office staff, drivers, and others involved in the shipment and receipt of products.

• Promptly unloads trucks and deliveries and sorts and stocks receivables.

• Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.

• Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet requirements.

• Inspects for damage to vehicles, identifies necessary maintenance and repairs.

• Reports any faulty equipment, damage to racks, or other potential safety hazards.

• Maintains equipment by cleaning, oiling, recharging, refueling, etc.

• Becomes forklift certified and attends certification refresher courses.

• Is alert of other employees in the work zone.

• Ensures proper placement of inventory and m aintains inventory of materials and supplies.

• Keeps area clean, safe, and up to code.

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; ability to sit, stand and /or walk for up to 3 hours at a time in an 8-hour day; ability to frequently grasp, push, pull, bend and climb.

• Regular and reliable attendance ensuring smooth and effecient operations.

Ideal Candidate Attributes:

• High school diploma or GED preferred.

• Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification required.

• 1+ years previous forklift operation or similar relevant experience preferred.

• 1+ years of related warehouse experience withing the consistent areas of material handling, shipping, and receiving, distribution and/or operations preferred.

• Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.

• Proficiency operating material moving machinery, radios, and scanners.

• General computer skills preferred (i.e. Microsoft Office)

• Attention to detail.

• Excellent coordination.

• Observes safety and security procedures.

• Meets attendance requirements and is on time.

Individuals with some of the experience and/or knowledge can be trained on the job to perform each essential duty successfully.

Work Environment:
  • Frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, product irritants, airborne particles, and outdoor weather conditions.

• Occasionally required to work in high places and confined spaces.

• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. But higher levels of noise are marked by signs.

Work Schedule and Compensation:

• First shift: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

• Third shift: Monday – Thursday, 8:30 pm – 7:00 am

• Occasional overtime.

• Wage starts at $15.00/hour depending on skills and experience.
