Our Central Aquatics division in Franklin, Wisconsin is looking for a talented and innovative Electrical Engineer to join our team. This role is focused on designing and developing electronics solutions for Central Garden & Pet products. You will be involved in projects from concept to launch with responsibility for the details of the design through implementation, testing, and handover to production. Abilities must include technical knowledge, electrical engineering, experience with CAD, project management, and multitasking.

MEASURES OF SUCCESS
  • Innovate new product concepts, develop prototypes, and work with 3rd party suppliers to launch exciting new products
  • Develop and manage all IOT (Internet of Things) products/ projects
  • Develop and implement testing methods and protocols for all hard good (non-food) lab experiments
  • Utilize 3D CAD and eCAD software to develop, test, and validate new product concepts
  • Troubleshoot new designs using laboratory test equipment
  • Clearly communicate technical requirements with 3rd party supplier engineering teams and non-technical internal teams
  • Review customer complaints and identify opportunities to improve customer experience with new and existing products.
  • Apply a manufacturing mindset to new designs to effectively propose cost-effective design solutions.
  • Prepare documentation, reports, and presentations as required


IDEAL CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTES
  • BS degree with a major in electrical or mechanical engineering
  • Exposure to electronic circuit troubleshooting techniques
  • Exposure to interfacing with serial communications (SPI, RS-232)
  • Understands the concepts of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth communications and IOT products.
  • Experience with electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, programmable loads
  • Project management and project leadership experience
  • Ability to utilize 3D CAD software (PTC Creo preferred)
  • Previous experience with rapid prototyping using 3D printing.
  • High level of attention to detail, excellent documentation skills and strong communication skills
  • A full complement of business computer literacy skills (e.g., word processing, spreadsheets, database software etc.)
  • Ability to work independently on multiple projects and in a team environment
  • Must be able to perform risk assessments in a timely manner and act accordingly
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner


WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Combination of office and plant environment; safety glasses and steel-toe shoes may be required on an intermittent basis.
  • Hours will generally be regular business hours and average at least 40 hours a week. There may be some variation in work hours due to training schedule, overtime, special projects, deadlines, and other concerns.
  • Ability to travel if required – 5%
