The Senior Sales Analyst – Walmart, Inc. is responsible for all aspects of business reporting and analysis in growing Central Garden & Pet Brands and our categories at Walmart & Sam’s Club. Working across multiple business units, this highly visible position plays a critical role in helping customer team and business unit leaders quantify key business drivers using local and syndicated data in pursuit of profitable growth in our business with Walmart & Sam’s Club. The Senior Sales Analyst – Walmart reports directly to VP Consumer Insights & Category Leadership while taking day to day business direction from Central Garden & Pet’s Director of Sales – Walmart, Inc. This strategic role will serve as a subject matter expert on all things Walmart Luminate Data, from daily/weekly/monthly reporting to shopper-based behavioral analysis to shape category growth ideas, operationalizing Central Garden & Pet’s investment in Luminate and helping the company maximize impact & ROI with it. This position is an office based professional role with our Walmart team in Bentonville, AR; ideal candidates will reside in the Northwest Arkansas area.

  • Thinks Strategically - Brings data-driven concepts to life; Lead ad-hoc analysis of Point-of-Sale (POS), Consumer, Shopper, syndicated, and internal data to develop recommendations with specific action plans on how to address issues and improve economic profit, volume, and share growth. Key examples of analysis could include: distribution, promotional, category / channel / competitor trends, pricing execution, trade spending, etc.
  • Solution Focus – Brings an innovative mindset to understanding how Central Garden & Pet can maximize its investment in Walmart Luminate data; Uses Luminate data in concert with other syndicated POS, Panel and primary research to support selling initiatives. Key examples include: distribution, promotional, category / channel / competitor trends, pricing execution, trade spending, etc.

IDEAL CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTES

Required Attributes:
  • Bachelor’s degree with a business emphasis (e.g. Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Marketing, etc.) required. Master’s degree is a plus.
  • 5+ years relevant experience (e.g. category development, business analytics, store / merchandising / distribution, sales, or marketing).
  • Strong knowledge / ability to pull, cultivate and interpret syndicated data (Nielson / IRI, Panel Data) as well as advanced skills in Retail Link and with Walmart Luminate Data.
  • Strong computer literacy with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP) and PowerPoint.
  • Ability and confidence to interact with leadership in formal presentations regarding data and analytical recommendations.

Preferred Attributes:
  • Background in Consumer Product Goods (CPG) or syndicated data provider with a solid understanding of CPG sales.
  • Rich experience and understanding of Walmart and the broader market - Food, Drug, Mass, Pet Specialty & eCommerce channels.
  • Knowledge in transactional systems such as SAP, Tableau, Essbase, Shiloh, Logility.

  • Requires the willingness and ability to travel 10-15% of the time for customer meetings, industry events and business unit visits.
