Reporting to the Director of Network Operations, the Senior Network Engineer will be responsible for administration, support, design and optimization of Central Garden & Pet’s network and security systems.

The ideal candidate will have broad expertise in networking, telecommunications, and computer disciplines. It is essential for the applicant to have hands-on experience developing, supporting and optimizing network solutions designed for performance, growth, and security, with an emphasis on reliability.

MEASURES OF SUCCESS
• Day to day management and support of LAN, WAN, SDWAN and WLAN platforms supporting over 90 locations across the United States and the United Kingdom.
• Support and maintain several highly available Data Centers
• Lead periodic service reviews with an emphasis on improving service functionality, reliability, efficiency and cost
• Develop and implement tools and process for the automation of operational tasks.
• Serve as escalation point for service desk technicians in resolving end-user issues
• Develop, publish, and maintain documentation such as AsBuilts, ‘How Tos’, and FAQs.
• Provide on-call support on an as needed basis.

IDEAL CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTES
• BS/BA in computer technology preferred or equivalent work experience
• Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience with network infrastructure and related technologies.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience supporting mission critical production systems in a large enterprise environment.
• Strong troubleshooting skills required.
• Experience supporting VMWare Velocloud or other SDWAN technology required.
• Experience with design, management, and support of Fortinet, PaloAlto, or Cisco firewalls required.
• Experience with ITIL service management framework and change management processes.
• Familiar with network and systems monitoring / management technologies.
• CCNA or higher certification in Routing/Switching, Wireless, Data Center or Security a plus
• Experience with design and management of Azure Cloud networking and security a plus.
• Hands-on experience with enterprise security and/or disaster recovery a plus.
• Solid documentation skills
• Willing to travel (up to 15%) for projects.

• Occasional travel
• Frequent use of PC, phone and office equipment

POSITION INFORMATION
This position pays $135,000 to $175,000 per year depending on experience
