SUMMARY

Reporting to the Director of Integrated Marketing, and working closely with the Marketing Strategy Manager and other University stakeholders, the Communications Specialist is an important part of the Office of Strategic Communications & Relations. They are responsible for tactical support and implementation of marketing campaigns and content distribution across University social media and other digital channels.

Please note that this is a .375 FTE, non-exempt, position (~15 hours/week). It is possible it will be extended to full-time in the near future.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Writes, edits, and designs channel-specific social media content in partnership with Editorial Services.
  • Researches and contributes to content topics in coordination with internal teams.
  • Plans and schedules internal and external communications.
  • Adheres to the University's style guide, ensuring that content produced is high-quality and error-free.
  • Works with the Integrated Marketing team to brainstorm content ideas, in line with the University's strategy and in support of various brand initiatives.
  • Supports and evaluates results of communication campaigns with the team.
  • Monitors quality control of content and campaigns.



Job Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 2 years experience in communications strategy implementation and/or development.
  • Proven social media expertise.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Content writing experience for all media platforms.
  • Strategic and creative mindset.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Familiarity/Proficiency with Canva and/or Adobe Products.
  • Understanding Social Media landscape and trends.
  • Photography skills are a big plus.
  • Emotional intelligence and experience with higher ed and non-profit a plus.

LOCATION

This is a hybrid position, and requires being on campus as needed.



Additional Information:

WAGES

Please note that this is a .375 FTE position (~15 hours/week), Non-Exempt. Salary: $15,000 - $20,000

  • Working Conditions - Duties are primarily performed in an office environment at a desk or computer terminal, typically Monday through Friday.
  • Background Check - Due to the sensitivity and requirements of this position, you should expect to undergo and be cleared of an employment background/criminal check, if extended an offer for employment. You may also be asked to provide proof of educational degree(s), licenses, or credentials pertinent to the position. If your job requires driving on behalf of CIIS you will be required to provide proof of a valid driver's license.
  • Visa Sponsorship - Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States for any employer.
  • Relocation Assistance - This position is not eligible for relocation assistance.
