The Technical Specialist is a senior level resource with specialized knowledge and experience in a specific technology. In this case the desired Specialist is an experienced PowerBuilder developer.
Complete Description:
***The candidate will be allowed to work remotely until all staff return to site. At that point the candidate will be required to come onsite.
***While the candidate is working remotely, he or she will need to use his or her own equipment with a remote desktop from DOT.
The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) is seeking experienced PowerBuilder contractor developers (>5 years experience) for a 12-month engagement for the Engineering Application Services Department (EAS) to enhance and maintain a mission-critical application for the department called HiCAMS.
The initial assignments will be to code/test data windows to replace over 100 sample test result spreadsheet formats that were coded using an outdated 3rd party software tool. Additional work will involve coding/testing bug fixes and other functional enhancements to the system.

- Experience as a PowerBuilder developer using PB10 or more recent versions. Required 5 Years
- Strong SQL skills (HiCAMS uses a Sybase database but SQL skills in any database platform are acceptable) Required 5 Years
- Strong Microsoft Suite experience, particularly Excel Required 5 Years
- Experience working in a remote software development environment Required 2 Years
- Strong analytical, conceptual, and technical skills Required 5 Years
