The Latino Economic Development Center (LEDC) is a non-profit, tax-exempt community development organization founded in 1991. LEDC’s mission is to drive the economic and social advancement of low- to moderate-income Latinos and other underserved communities by equipping them with the skills and tools to achieve financial independence and become leaders in their communities. We achieve our mission through small business development and lending, homeownership group education and individual counseling, and affordable housing preservation.

Position Summary

Empowered Women International (EWI), a program of the Latino Economic Development Center. EWI’s mission is to provide entrepreneurship training, mentoring, market access, and support services to help talented and high-potential women monetize their creative or cultural assets, artistic abilities, knowledge, and skills, and become change-makers in their families, communities, and the world for immigrant, refugee, low-income, and at-risk women in the Greater Washington DC Metro Area and Baltimore metropolitan area.

The Program Coordinator will work alongside of the Senior Program Manager for EWI to develop strategies that deliver services for culturally diverse and at-risk communities of women. This involves working in programs for women’s empowerment and micro-enterprise development and developing and implementing monitoring and evaluation organizational systems.

Please note that the position is expected to report to our DC office and may require some travel to our other offices and/or to events.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Programs:

  • Execute the strategy and delivery of EWI’s training programs: Entrepreneur Training for Success (ETS), Grow My Business (GMB) and Wealthy Women Financial Transformation Program (WW) in Greater Washington DC Metro Area and assist the Program Manager with developing programmatic updates.
  • Provide ongoing administrative support in the management of the complete EWI program catalog, including applicant intake management; scheduling and conducting interviews with new clients; tracking client data, and ensuring the application process is followed and applicants are communicated with.
  • Assist the Sr. Program Manager with long-term planning for expansion of EWI and women-facing programming in Greater Washington DC Metro Area.
  • Meet program deadlines, drive deliverables, and assist with project management, which may include directing research and staff assigned to the program, to ensure high quality and timely products.
  • With input from the Sr. Program Manager, develop a client referrals system and strategy to be implemented across the Greater Washington DC Metro Area
  • Take lead on program calendaring and strategic planning, including session dates, classes and events, and workshop dates and locations, and ensuring effective resources and training are in place for execution.
  • Recruit and orient professional volunteers, with support from program team members.

Partnerships and Community Outreach:

  • Work with senior staff and the program team to assess current needs and develop and/or strengthen partnerships with corporations, educational institutions, and community partners to address these needs.
  • Support and lead the development of strategic partnerships for women-facing programming at LEDC in Greater Washington DC Metro Area.
  • Lead the outreach and recruitment efforts to culturally diverse communities in the Baltimore region to sustain an on-going enrollment of applicants for the entrepreneur training programs.
  • Work effectively with external stakeholders, including donors, business leaders, advisors and community partners.

Monitoring & Evaluation:

  • Capture client data through intake forms, maintain accurate client records, and collaborate with Sr. Program Manager to meet program goals and benchmarks.
  • Work with the senior staff to develop and implement effective strategies to produce accurate reports that demonstrate impact on our clients’ lives and the community.
  • Provide administrative support - including reconciliation of data needed for reporting, data entry, translation of materials from English to Spanish, drafting email communications and other administrative tasks.
  • Other duties as assigned are to ensure the quantity and quality of services provided by the organization.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish), and culturally sensitive.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • The ability to be an effective and motivational member of diverse and dispersed teams.
  • Strong understanding of financial capability education, workforce development, and poverty alleviation strategies.
  • Possess an innovative and creative problem-solving mindset.
  • Be capable of coordinating across various internal departments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven experience in program development in a non-profit, financial, or otherwise related field.
  • Two or more years of financial capability education, workforce development, and poverty alleviation strategies.
  • Experience running a small business.
  • Certified financial counselor.
  • Knowledge of basic business accounting.
  • Knowledge of federal regulations pertaining to small businesses.

This is a full-time exempt role, which typically requires 40 hours/week position and the incumbent may need to work occasional Saturday hours and some evenings.
