KEMBA Financial Credit Union


Objective

The Legal Services Specialist is responsible for supporting the Legal Department. The Legal Services Specialist performs a variety of document preparation and related legal functions. The Legal Services Specialist will also provide project and administrative support for the Risk Department, as needed.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepares responses to garnishments, levies, and subpoenas
  • Assists with document preparation and related legal functions as directed by In-House Counsel
  • Provides administrative support for the Legal Department, including data entry into the Credit Union core systems, processing mail and tracking legal deadlines
  • Works closely with Loss Prevention to assist with delinquent accounts that have been referred for legal review.
  • Refers delinquent accounts to outside counsel at the direction of In-House Counsel
  • Assists Risk department associates as directed by In-House Counsel
  • Performs all duties in a manner that is fully compliant with industry applicable regulations as well as KEMBA policy and procedures
  • Develops an understanding of Credit Union history, philosophy, organization, policies, and operational procedures
  • On a self-direct basis, continues to improve individual level of competency through training and certification on established educational programs.

  • Performs other duties as required by management

Required Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent education and experience
  • Prior experience in a financial institution and/or legal environment is a plus
  • Understanding of court procedures
  • Well organized, accurate, and attentive to detail
  • Cooperative and willing to assist others
  • Must value a high degree of accuracy
  • Highly competent in use of Microsoft Office software
